The Kenosha Boys and Girls Club was gracious to partner with Sankofa Community Academy to support our mission and vision and to engage children in a culturally responsive community created 5 ft by 3ft art piece. Ida B. Wells-Barnett born July 16, 1862, lived on the south side of Chicago.
As an investigative reporter, she co-owned a newspaper that was destroyed due to racism, but that did not stop her. She established Chicago's first kindergarten centering Black children. She continued to write, speak and organize for civil rights and the women's movement for the rest of her life.
